Loading & Unloading at the new home: working
with your mover
|
| Loading: |
| Ask to see the
weight ticket before the mover begins to load your things. This should be the empty truck
weight or "tare weight." |
| Make sure the
mover places a numbered tag on each item and each item is recorded on the inventory
sheet. Go into the truck and check off each item if necessary. |
| You can follow
the truck to the nearest weighing station and get the "gross weight." (Gross
weight - tare weight) equals the weight you pay for. |
|
| Unloading: |
| Stand by the
truck, use the inventory list and check off each item as it is unloaded. This is the best time
to identify missing items. |
| Check fragile
items and valuables before the mover leaves. |
| Don't sign and
don't pay until you are sure all your items were delivered in good condition. |
