Moving tips, an 8-week schedule to manage your move to a new home

8 weeks	___	Contact Moving Companies for cost estimates.
	___	Check on mover's insurance for moving damages
6 weeks	___	Notify doctor and dentist of move and ask for referrals in new city.
	___	Make check-up veterinarian appointments for pets.
	___	Start collecting boxes.
4 weeks	___	Cancel clubs and services paid for monthly. Many require at least 30 days notice.
	___	Have a yard sale. Set aside donation items.
	___	Arrange for transfer of school records for yourself or children.
	___	Check on transportation requirements for pets.
3 weeks	___	Fill out Change-of-address forms for Post Office.
	___	Start packing, remember to label boxes.
	___	Arrange for utilities at new location.
	___	Give forwarding address to old employer, lawyer, accountant, etc.
2 weeks	___	Make lodging arrangements if traveling a long distance or if new residence is not in move-in condition.
	___	Service your automobile.
1 week	___	Close or transfer bank account.
	___	Donate unneeded items to charity. Remember to get receipts for tax purposes
2 days	___	Contact utilities to cancel or transfer account.
Moving Day	___	Confirm new address with moving company.
	___	Make final walk-through of old residence. Check closets, turn off lights, lock doors and windows and leave keys with appropriate person.
Move IN day	___	Be there when moving truck arrives. Make sure all boxes have arrived undamaged before signing paperwork.
